Despite its aged looks the church was only built in 2006 as a backdrop for the film "The Island".
These photos were taken at sun rise - temperature 27 degrees below zero - after a journey by snow mobile, which is the best way of reaching this remote place in winter.
It's located in the republic of Kareliya in the northwest of Russia.
